Mahaguthi Craft With A Conscience is participating in Paper World 2008, Frankfurt starting from Jan. 23-27, 2008. It is showcasing its new collection exclusively designed by Ms. Heleen Verschuren, well known designer from the Netherlands.

Paper producers in Ramechhap

Mahaguthi staff members visited paper producers in Ramechhap District about 175 KM East on Dec 3-6, 2007. The producer group was created with the support from Swiss Development Cooperation, Micro Enterprise Development Program and now is supported Mahaguthi for technical upgradation and market linkage.

Ms. Uttara Malakar & Mr. Shiva Shrestha held a meeting with the producers and agreed to conduct a training to improve the quality of the paper.

Fair Trade Trade Fair

Fair trade organizations and other small producer organizations made their day in Fair Trade Trade Fair 2007 organized by Fair Trade Group Nepal on Dec. 8, 2007. Mr. Pushkar Man Shakya enagurated the fair and pointed out the importance of such a fair to be competitive in the market field. Nepalese Handicraft products have international potentials, however need to be developed as per market need.

Mahaguthi participated in the fair showcasing its furniture and ceramic products. People have shown interest in its tibetan motif furniturers. It also initiated live demontration of paper making process.

In a mission to communicate about fair trade to larger audience, Fair Trade Fair has been very effective and in this regards the fair was a success. Distingueshed guests from dimplomatic missions, development organizations, business houses and general public aquintained the fair.

Fair Trade Group Nepal is organizing Fair Trade Trade fair on Dec. 8, 2007. The main objective of the fair is to provide market access opportunity. It also aims at communicating about fair trade to mass public.
